![]() At the front end of the ram is a vertical tool slide that may be adjusted to either side of the vertical plane along the stroke axis. The ram slides back and forth above the work. Since then they have been selling the bars. they had never heard of W&H even though there are 40,000 machines out there. Since my Williams and Hussey moulder head is not removable Viel made me the first W&H profile grinder head to go on their profile grinder set up. 10 grams difference equals 400 pounds at 7,000 rpm! So if you want your bearings to last take the time to get the weights identical before and after grinding the profiles. I cut the blanks with a 14 inch cut off saw, grind them till they are the same making sure the ends are square, then check the weights. Rick it's not hard, but nothing worth while is ever easy. Beats 50-75$ for a custom profile from a cutter shop. ![]() So depending on how many cutters you run cost is 10-15$ an inch max. Started with 1/4 thick HSS stock but have found the 3/16 just as solid. I buy 25 inch bars various widths from 1 1/2" to 2 1/2" to save wasting material and time. I would by it direct from them as they are the manufacturer rather than a trade show, the owner speaks perfect english. The Viel machine is bullet proof and was only 750 when I bought it. ![]()
